Still Life Painting (beginners and more advanced).

This still life class will focus on the approach of setting up a still life and how to use a shadow box to create an atmosphere. Student will explore the concept of how light travels through the objects and creating a focal point. Composition elements are also reviewed. The class will also focus on the use of color and value relationships to create a 3 dimensional feel on the objects being created. Finally, we will focus on the benefits of a limited palette.

Materials are not included; essentials are a paint box or pochade box (studio easels can be provided), odorless spirits of turpentine such as turpenoid or gamsol. Basic color requirement: cad yellow pale, cad red light, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, titanium white. Flat and filbert hog hair brushes 1, 3 , 4, 6 or your favorite sizes. Recommend are masonite boards of around 12 x 16 , 14 x 18  or 16 x 20. They may be primed with gesso or have a glued canvas base.  Pre made stretched canvas purchased at any michaels, or art supply store are ok.

This class starts Wednesday October 3rd and runs for 8 weeks.
